About me

My name is Danika. I’m currently studying Bachelor of Education. Although I transferred from the double degree of teaching/exercise. As it was teaching high school students I didn’t feel like I was in the right department, though I knew I still wanted to teach.  There is something about providing a foundation for a child’s education that I find so important and need to be a part of. The science behind the development of a child is so fascinating to me that I can;t wait to learn and experience the growth first hand in the class room.

Though becoming a teacher isn’t my only passion. I love music, brunch and swimming. Swimming is actually how I found my passion for education. When I started swim teaching, I found that working with children is so fun and enjoyable that it inspired me to go into primary education.

Is there more to online games than fun? - Blog 1

Online technology has advanced so much that children are able to use it in classrooms as well as at home. Online games have developed to be more than just fun. The generation of ‘digital native’ children have grown up with technology being so natural to them. When incorporating learning based objectives and motor skills, it can possibly have a significant impact on individual’s development. An article by Marc Prensky:  Digital Game-Based Learning (2003), speaks about how the children of the 21st century, are not drawn to the violence of online games but are to the learning that the games can provide.
